These Terms of Use and Usage Policies disclose the privacy practices for our websites. These TOU and Usage Policies will inform you of the following:
PRSA believes in the privacy of member and nonmember users of its websites and is committed to the responsible use of any information provided online. At the same time, however, your expectations of privacy regarding use of the sites should vary according to the portion of the sites you are using. For example, by their very nature, PRSA Blogs and MyPRSA Discussion Forums are public forums. As a result, you have no proprietary interest and no reasonable expectation of privacy while using PRSA Blogs and MyPRSA Discussion Forums, or while posting comments to PRSA articles.
In order to use some parts of our websites, a user must first complete a registration form. During registration, a user is required to give certain information (such as name and email address). This information is used to contact you about the products/services on our sites in which you have expressed interest. At your option, you may also provide demographic information (such as gender or age) about yourself, but it is not required. We also use the information we gather to improve the Society and the websites by adding new products and services.
We use "cookies" on our sites. A cookie is a piece of data stored on a site visitor's hard drive to help us improve your access to our sites and identify repeat visitors to our sites. For instance, when we use a cookie to identify you, you would not have to log in a password more than once, thereby saving time while on our sites. Cookies can also enable us to track and target the interests of our users to enhance the experience on our sites. Usage of a cookie is in no way linked to any personally identifiable information on our sites.
From time to time our sites request information via surveys or contests. Participation in these surveys or contests is completely voluntary, and you may choose whether or not to participate and therefore disclose this information. Information requested may include contact information (such as name and shipping address) and demographic information (such as zip code, age level). Contact information will be used to notify the winners and award prizes. Survey information will be used for purposes of monitoring or improving the use and satisfaction of our sites.
PRSA sometimes partners with other parties to provide specific services. When the user signs up for these services, we will share names or other information that is necessary for the third party to provide these services. These parties are not allowed to use personally identifiable information except for the purpose of providing these services.
Unless otherwise indicated, PRSA is the sole owner of the information collected on our sites. PRSA retains the right to make member contact information available to responsible third parties for one-time mailing use only. Business or personal telephone numbers or email addresses are not made available to third parties without your express permission, and we will not sell or rent this information to anyone. If you do not wish to have your addresses made available to third parties, please notify us by emailing membership@prsa.org.
PRSA reserves the right to use and disclose information about sites usage and demographics in forms and formats that do not reveal subscriber's names, addresses or phone numbers.
Unless you ask us not to, we may contact you via email in the future to tell you about specials, new products or services, or changes to this privacy policy.
Finally, PRSA may also use information from sites activity in accordance with security policies, as set forth elsewhere in this document.
You may opt out of any future contacts from us at any time. You can do the following at any time by emailing membership@prsa.org or calling (212) 460-1400:

We encourage our users to be aware when they leave our sites and to read the privacy statements of any other site that collects personally identifiable information.
Without prejudice to our other rights under this Terms of Use and Usage Policies, if you fail to abide by these Terms of Use and Usage Policies when using our websites, we may take all necessary measures to ensure our protection, including, but not limited to, suspending your account, informing relevant third parties such as your Internet provider about the infringement(s) or informing law enforcement.
We take precautions to protect your information. When you submit sensitive information via our websites, your information is protected both online and offline.
Wherever we collect sensitive information (such as credit card data), that information is encrypted and transmitted to us in a secure way. You can verify this by looking for a closed lock icon at the bottom of your Web browser or by looking for "https" at the beginning of the address of the Web page.
While we use encryption to protect sensitive information transmitted online, we also protect your information offline. Only employees who need the information to perform a specific job (for example, billing or customer service) are granted access to personally identifiable information. The computers/servers in which we store personally identifiable information are kept in a secure environment.
PRSA considers searches of our websites, searches of our member directory, and electronic transmissions and communications made through PRSA websites as PRSA's own records, and PRSA may therefore obtain access to, intercept, disclose and review those transmissions at any time. Moreover, actual or attempted unauthorized use of PPSA websites may violate PRSA's employment policies and/or result in criminal and/or civil prosecution, including, without limitation, punishment under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act of 1986. PRSA also reserves the right to view, monitor and record activity on PRSA websites without notice or permission from you. Any information obtained by monitoring, reviewing or recording is subject to review by law enforcement organizations in connection with investigation or prosecution of possible criminal activity on PRSA websites. PRSA will also comply with all court orders involving requests for such information. In addition to the foregoing, PRSA reserves the right to, at any time and without notice, modify, suspend, terminate or interrupt operation of or access to PRSA websites, or any portion of PRSA websites, for any reason.
