As a statewide organization,
SCPRSA serves public relations practitioners
all over South Carolina with a variety of regional meetings
and events. To
better serve our more than 200 members, we host monthly professional
development luncheons in Charleston, Columbia and Greenville,
with planned
expansion to the Myrtle Beach/Coastal area.
All SCPRSA
luncheons feature dynamic speakers, opportunities to
learn about the profession, increased knowledge about topics relevant
to the practitioner and valuable networking time with colleagues.
Twice a year, the entire chapter
gathers for our signature events: Mercury
Awards and the Professional Development Conference. The Mercury
Awards
includes a judged competition and awards banquet that celebrates
outstanding
achievement in the creation and execution of public relations
campaigns and
tactics. Each fall, the statewide Professional Development
Conference brings
in regional, national and international speakers for intensive
workshops on
the hot issues facing public relations practitioners.
The chapter
also sponsors an annual accreditation
process for members that
includes recruiting candidates and assisting with preparation
for oral and
written exams, and we work with the Public Relations Student
Society of
America (PRSSA) at the University of South Carolina to sponsor
mentoring
programs for public relations students.
SCPRSA is a member of the Southeast
District of PRSA.
